Functioning in a world where donors and friends are bombarded with competing agendas and priorities, nonprofits must dedicate their marketing efforts to reach out and appeal to the passionate concern of people, as individuals or representing foundations and other funders, who will champion their unique causes and invest in their future.
At The Lapin Group we recommend that nonprofit organizations embark upon significant marketing and fundraising initiatives by first engaging in a thoughtful Market Scanning Process. It is critical that an organization fully understands the motivations and concerns of existing and prospective donors and leaders in order to ensure that communication materials are compelling. Likewise, it is important to improve community relations between the organization and its surrounding stakeholder constituencies by “broadcasting out” and gathering insight from the community.
In order to best position our client organizations for success, The Lapin Group conducts a flexible Market Scan, a focused community outreach effort comprised of a series of focus groups as well as confidential discussions with stakeholders including, but not limited to: past and current Board and staff members, potential leaders and donors in the organization's immediate community, local business and community leaders, and other decision makers and community representatives.
Using the focus groups as a forum for productive discussions, The Lapin Group facilitates dialogue that helps to broadcast the organization’s vision as well as gain valuable insights from local stakeholders on ways that the organization can best utilize its resources and create lasting partnerships.
Both the focus groups and individual interviews within the Market Scanning Process enable our professionals to gain valuable insights that will be used to craft and activate a road map to move the prospective fundraising, marketing, or branding activities forward thoughtfully and strategically.
Social Media & Electronic Communication
Online communication for nonprofits continues to evolve rapidly, yet the purpose is still the same: to communicate compelling information to a variety of stakeholders and donors. Although new technologies can seem overwhelming, The Lapin Group helps client organizations choose the best Social Media channels to tell their stories and educates nonprofit leaders to build enthusiasm about new technologies, not fear them.
By thinking strategically about the short and long-term benefits of social media, The Lapin Group is able to discern the best channels of communication for our client organizations. We integrate social media so that it is consistent with our clients’ other communications, and ensure that the tone and voice matches the organization, not the individual who is responsible for generating content.
